Life and suffering are mistakes, and we could be the solution.

Is life a mistake and are we here to fix it?

THE GRAND UNIFYING THEORY OF SCIENCE AND ALL RELIGION?

Here is your opportunity to buy the most offensive book ever printed! Maybe, because nobody will want to hear it, or because it’s got something in it to make everyone angry of any sort of persuasion, or because the world is not ready for it. But it’s based on reality and I’m kind of old now and if I don’t publish it now, I may never. So I’m hoping it will be out there for someone to notice it sometime in the future for the good of humanity.

I’m just asking everyone to see what unites us.

I submit for your consideration that it might be better for world peace and the education of our children if we all understood that science and religion have some common ground, so that religions could stop fighting and cooperate to make the world a better place. One of my goals in looking for these answers was to find that common ground, and make peace between these two cultures, who, working together, could solve all the poverty and war on the planet!!! If that interests you then read on, but keep in mind some of my conclusions may be challenging to your beliefs. If you can be open-minded, I did achieve my goal of proving to myself that religion has a scientific basis and that the claims most religions have in common are true, and fit what we now know about the origin and nature of the Universe. If you can’t, go in peace.

What am I trying to do in The Mistake? Sometimes it seems like I’m asking everyone to change their beliefs! But we’ll never attain unity holding our breath waiting for that to happen. Cognitive dissonance? Please try to read it as a call for everyone to drop the idea of convincing others to believe what you believe. THAT’S WHERE WE ARE NOW AND HOW’S IT WORKING OUT? The polluters are raking in billions while Millions of humans live in poverty, starvation and violence while we argue over who owns God or which political party is worse.

An Infinite, Omniscient Being must certainly be capable of manifesting as many manifestations as it wants. Then understanding what religions call “God” as two different manifestations with two different purposes makes sense. If you see that there are at least two Gods, it explains everything. You don’t have to blame “God” for suffering, if you understand that the God who helps you through suffering is not the same one that caused it. Sickness, death, disease and natural disasters were not created by the same god that you feel in your heart. The god that answers prayers and gives solace to the suffering is not the god that caused the suffering. Theodicy can go away. And yes everything was created by a god, the one that created suffering. You don’t have to be a science denier because you think believing in science would mean you could not believe in god. You don’t have to pretend that science is wrong about the age of the earth or that we evolved over millions of years because you can believe that that other god created everything, including suffering. We were not born in sin, we are simply the first self-aware animal. Sin is code for our animal instincts, which we are gradually learning to transcend, with the help of the good ones. Your experience of whatever god you want to believe in should not put you totally at odds with atheists, because the good god is a purely personal experience. Which is miraculous, on the face of it!

If you would like to make sense of our world, while accepting spirituality, try separating God from suffering. I make sense of the world by understanding that a god that created the macro world (IT) is a different Being from the God, which manifests itself in all religions (US), which helps us be better people, when they’re not trying to own an infinite being. Paying attention to the real world, as revealed by science, which is the truth of how the world works, reveals that the infinite energy that creates Matter does not in the fact have any consciousness. This God of infinite energy, created a universe in which life is just another aspect of the energy and what we call suffering is just a natural order of what this God thing created. This god does not require worship or pay any heed to what we do. This creator god has no mind no consciousness does not care about anything because it has no mind to care with it simply blasted itself into pieces to create the physical world of this physical universe, which runs itself by the natural laws of physics. I call it IT.

Every religion has hints about IT. From “A Second Treasury of Khalil Gibran, p. 127; I opened it up randomly to this page; “I have been here since the beginning, and I shall be unto the end of days; For there is no ending to my existence. The human soul is but a part of a burning torch, which God separated from Himself at Creation.”

In the title of this book, the mistake, I’m surmising that suffering is a mistake. (see Theodicy). The obvious example of greed is how the polluters have poisoned the entire planet while hoarding their wealth. Tribalism is also responsible for poverty war and genocide because as social animals we humans instinctively consider everyone outside our tribe as inferior. Then there’s “God”. Does your god take responsibility for suffering and/or blame you? THESE THINGS ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.

What if we could all agree on a commonality of the nature of our beliefs? Then maybe maybe we could have true religious freedom, freedom to believe any details you want while honoring other people‘s interpretation of the facts.

Understanding that an infinite being can have infinite numbers of ways to manifest, and rejoicing in a world where everyone is free to have their beliefs and no one is afraid of persecution or ridicule.

Freedom to believe your beliefs are superior while allowing others to believe the same.

And now I can visualize clearly the end of life on the earth. Obviously we are going to destroy the planet or at least make it much more difficult to live on it, so as in the movie “Wall-E” most will escape to lifeships, where they will spend their lives hooked on virtual reality. A few people may survive on the surface, in the bunkers the rich built while the surface was being thouroughly poisoned, but they will have to be different and the ones that do survive may have a chance of being the predecessor to another species of much higher, spiritual intelligence.

And by the way my final conclusion from all this is so simple it’s mind-boggling; we’re here to help each other evolve/make the world a better place/get back to God… wait this sounds familiar! Isn’t all of that one of the things most religions have been trying to tell us, along with a lot of Mythology? But.. But… if the Mistake scenario is correct, WE’RE ON OUR OWN!?

That’s scary because we are barely out of the animal stage. We still kill each other. A significant portion of us at any given time are in it for whatever we can get at the expense of anyone in the way. A very small percentage of us control most of the wealth, and an even smaller percentage of them share. A very large portion of the governments in existence right now are dictatorships which treat their citizens like slaves. Most major religions mix the basic message of spiritual evolution with we’re going to heaven and nobody else is, as if they could own an infinite Being.

Don’t we need religions to unite in helping us evolve?

Take heart. The overall direction has always been toward higher consciousness. The very fact that we now TALK about human rights, and condemn governments who don’t honor them is a huge step. We’ve come a long way since the main function of government was to raise an army to conquer your neighbors! “The pursuit of happiness”, written into our Constitution, could morph into “The pursuit of a better society, which promotes a better life for ALL” (not just white male landowners, as or was when the constitution was written). In fact, isn’t that the stated purpose of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by the richest couple in the world?

Isn’t there a version of the Golden Rule in every religion? Aren’t most of the words of Jesus about making the world a better place for all; not just you, your family, your corporation or your country?

I’m not creating any new gods or really denying any religion. Just pointing out the obvious; there are two aspects of what we call God, from the same source. The source may be another level above IT and US, but doesn’t seem to operate on this plane. I’m offering a way of separating the madness and cruelty of the physical world from the angelic, healing, occasionally miraculous God we all feel and all religions worship. This is a way of appreciating God without blaming God for our suffering, or making up stories about why God “punishes us with suffering.” We punish ourselves. It’s called Karma. We can celebrate our connection to the infinite. We can understand our religions’ attempts to control the evils humans have always and still do: as attempts to control our animal instincts. We can admit that we are animals with a spark of the divine by understanding what the science of evolution has clearly shown about the evolution of consciousness. We can recognize that other animals have that spark (see any thread on YouTube or Instagram of animals helping each other, helping humans, and being incredibly lovingly affectionate with humans who rescue them), but our consciousness can allow us to make the world a better place for us and all life, rather than behaving, as we have so far, like the most destructively invasive species ever to inhabit the planet.

Because now as I write this, it is perfectly clear what we have done, and that if we don’t reverse it there will be untold suffering on a planetary scale. Oh not for the governments who allowed it to happen. They will have their bunkers and mountain top retreats with walls and security while the millions who live on the coasts will stream inland crowding into everything above the rising sea level. It will not be the end of the world or of humanity although millions will die. The survivors will adapt, as we have to numerous ice ages and warm periods in the past. It’s just so unnecessary. We could instead stop the pollution, and create a world where there is no hunger or inequality anywhere. If we do that it will make the planet a better place for our children and their children to the hundredth generation. How can WE do that?
